How We HELP

Here’s how the program works.  St. Louis HELP accepts donations of nearly every type of assistive technology (AT) equipment, in good working condition.  We revitalize and sanitize the equipment, store it and have it ready to distribute for requests from people with disabilities or their family members, support staff and friends.

What Is AT Equipment?

Put simply, Assistive Technology Equipment - AT - includes any item that enables a person to function better or more easily than he/she could without that item.  Examples of AT equipment are:

  • Wheelchairs - manual and electric
  • Scooters
  • Walkers, Crutches and Canes
  • Shower Chairs
  • Transfer Chairs
  • Portable Commodes
  • Raised Toilet Seats
  • Shower, Tub and Wall Grab Bars
  • Hospital Beds - manual and electric
  • Bed Tray Stands
  • Lift Chairs
  • Ramps and Stair Ramps

Why Reuse AT Equipment?

Recycling and reuse of AT equipment makes common sense.

Passing on used devices means no longer needing to store them and sparing the environment the impact of throwing them away.  Those who donate equipment  will know they are helping people in need by providing accessibility to those who do not have the financial resources to acquire the equipment.
